PENTECOST 25 - Hebrews 10:11-25; Mark 13:1-8

When Jesus made the statement in the gospel of Mark that the temple would be destroyed, we tend not to appreciate how jarring it would have been for anyone around him to hear that. Such a statement would be met with puzzled expressions and even angry retorts. How could Jesus speak of the destruction of the centrepiece of worship for Israel? This begs the question of us: do we have any "temples" in our practice of our faith that Jesus might say will be taken apart and reduced to nothing?
