LENT 1 - Deuteronomy 26:1-11; Luke 4:1-13

The account of Jesus's 40 days in the wilderness focusses on his temptation or testing. But is that all that Jesus was doing for a month and a half in the desert? In this sermon, Rev Derwyn suggests that Jesus took time in isolation to think deeply about what he heard from God at his baptism: "You are my son, the beloved; with you I am well pleased." This statement is what launched Jesus on his mission, moving from his career as a builder/carpenter to a rabbi, prophet, the Messiah. What impact would hearing this statement directed to you have on your approach to life?
