NATIONAL INDIGENOUS DAY OF PRAYER - Galatians 3:23-29; John 1:1-18

As the Anglican Council of Indigenous Peoples continues its work on self-determination within the Anglican Church of Canada, it can be easy for us non-Indigenous people to be happy for them. And so we should be. But, why should it stop there? Can we not see that as this process continues and our Indigenous siblings are seen as the equals that they are, that we can benefit from what they have to teach us? The Gospel of Jesus Christ is flavoured by each and every culture that embraces it, and each and every culture brings something valuable to the expression of the Gospel that can benefit others. And so, as we watch the Gospel being flavoured by the Indigenous spirituality of the First Nations of Turtle Island, let us look for what we can be taught by our Indigenous brothers and sisters about how to live as followers of Jesus in this world gifted to us by the Creator...
