The Church has been aware of the tension between the portrayal of God in the Old Testament as compared to the New Testament for the past two thousand years. It seems that God is always angry in the first part of the Bible, but then is said to be loving and kind in the last part. How we address this tension is important because it will affect how we view the scriptures and, more importantly how we view God.
