PENTECOST 13 - Jeremiah 18:1-11; Luke 14:25-33

NOTE: Once again, we've had an issue recording the audio for this sermon (this time it's because I forgot to turn my mic on...duh). So I'm sorry about the audio quality for the sermon, though the readings are just fine!

In any given parish, diocese, denomination, or worldwide fellowship, you can expect that there will be variations in how the Scriptures are interpreted. These interpretations ought to be seen as attempts by Christians to properly handle the Bible in order to understand how its ancient texts can be appropriately applied to 21st-century life. In this sermon, Rev Derwyn illustrates three interpretive approaches to the texts and encourages us to recognize that we likely worship alongside people who hold any one of these three (or other) ways to understand the Scriptures. Doubtless there will be disagreement or conflict between them, but as fellow followers of Christ, we ought to give each other space in our efforts to work out the practice of our faith.
