PENTECOST 11 - Genesis 37:1-4, 12-28; Matthew 14:22-33.

God does not promise us smooth sailing in this life. But God does promise to be with us in the storms of life just as Jesus was with his disciples in the storm on the Sea of Galilee. Jesus is ready to reach out and grab us as soon as we cry "Jesus, help me!" like Peter did when his faith started to weaken and he began to sink. Joseph is sold into slavery by his older half-brothers. His faith in the goodness of God carried him through his tough times and developed him into a man who could forgive his brothers' betrayal and welcome them with open arms. What are the winds and waves that threaten to take our attention off the goodness of God? How are Peter and Joseph examples for us?
