This Sunday was both Trinity Sunday and the day to acknowledge the upcoming National Indigenous People's Day. In this sermon, while acknowledging the Trinity and the difficulty there is in trying to understand it, Rev Derwyn also explored a "what if" scenario: what if our first encounter with the Plains First Nations 300 years ago was informed by what we've learned over the past 150 years? This would likely have created a different exchange between the Europeans and the First Nations, and perhaps led to a much more positive relationship today. And then, what if we applied this same understanding to others we encounter today who hold to a different spiritual understanding than we do?
