Zechariah's Joy

Making a change to the Revised Common Lectionary's assigned Gospel reading for today, Rev Derwyn retells the story of the birth of John the Baptizer as we anticipate the birth of Jesus in just a few days. Zechariah's response to all the events of this story are informative for us about what kind of anticipation we might experience, and what he says in his poem of praise at the birth of John is further instructive of what makes the presence of Jesus so important.
