TRANSFIGURATION - Luke 9:28-36.

Parishioner Margaret Hogarth presents an idea of what the Transfiguration of Jesus could have meant for Jesus himself, and what it may have meant for the disciples who witnessed the event. Jesus did not present as the type of Messiah the disciples expected. He lived and taught a lifestyle of self-denial, self-sacrifice, and extreme love for others, even to the point of laying down his life. He was prepared to walk such a road and expects the same of his followers. Special visions from God are not usual, but when they are given, they can be an encouragement to continue walking the road of self-denial.
