LENT 2 - Tobit 12:6b-10; Mark 10:32-52

In this second sermon in a series about the challenging teaching of Jesus, Rev Derwyn explores the literary pattern Mark uses to draw attention to what Jesus teaches his disciples after each of the three times he predicts his death and resurrection. The reaction of his disciples to this prediction each time is interesting, and what Jesus has to say further is telling. Unusually, the first reading was drawn from the apocryphal text of Tobit to show how the Jewish people were beginning to think after the exile, and it's remarkable to see how it parallels Jesus's point in the Gospel of Mark.
