Sitting with Friday

Our liturgy for Good Friday tends to push us toward the resurrection too quickly. The reason is simple; the crucifixion of Jesus Christ is nothing special without the proclamation of the resurrection to give it meaning. But if we view the observance of Holy Week as a journey through Jesus's final days, what can we do with Friday without mentally hurrying to Sunday? If we consider that Jesus's death was caused by human sin, perhaps we have something to work with . . .
